The network is important for you

Contacts important for the future are often established with fellow students and lecturers while studying. The alumni network enables you to maintain and broaden your social and professional contacts. The key to the network is the alumni database that is common to the entire University, regardless of what you have studied. About 17,500 former students - in more than 80 countries - have already registered (October, 2016).

Your experience of studying and work is valuable to us and our students. With your help we can develop our courses and strengthen our connections with the surrounding world. With your information from your professional life, we can show our students what they can work with after graduating.

Current alumni activities

University of Gothenburg’s alumni activities are still under development. Many faculties and departments continuously arrange various programmes. If you cannot find any activities within your field at this time, you can still register in the alumni database.

  • Researchers concerned about plastic consumption

    [23 Feb 2018] We are exposured to microplastics from our surroundings, and probably at much higher levels than those found in individual food items or drinking water. This has been shown by a new study in which researchers from the University of Gothenburg have participated. The researchers are now calling for a discussion about the consequences of the total global consumption of plastics.

  • Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg Intensifying Sustainable Development Cooperation

    [20 Feb 2018] Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg have signed a renewed collaboration agreement for sustainable development, which also implies a new plan for the joint organisation named the Centre for Environment and Sustainability. The new agreement encompasses a broader approach that covers all aspects of sustainable development with a clearer focus on the United Nation´s 17 global sustainable development goals. The organisation will also be renamed Gothenburg Centre for Sustainable Development.

  • The plastics industry is leaking huge amounts of microplastics

    [15 Feb 2018] Millions of plastic pellets are leaking out into the environment from a manufacturing site in Stenungsund. This has been shown by a new study conducted by researchers at the University of Gothenburg. Despite several international and national sets of regulatory frameworks, the leaking continues.
